Michael Beckerle commented on DAFFODIL-1619:
--------------------------------------------

Raised priority as users and even Daffodil committers are having a hard time
spotting problems where things like dfdl:lengthPattern is specified without
specifying dfdl:lengthKind="pattern". Without the latter, the former is ignored.

Many hours of many people's time are being wasted by this bug.

> It is possible to put dfdl annotations in places that Daffodil will ignore.
> For example, an annotation on a xs:restriction will be ignored. It would be
> helpful to detect dfdl annotations in these locations and warn them that they
> will be ignored.
