A release note documenting as you have below that there's this isolated issue in Ubuntu 20.04 is fine with me.
I can upgrade to 22.04 but I'm very leary of Ubuntu upgrades now, as this sort of instability heisenbug has become more common in Ubuntu. I really don't trust them to move from one stable version to another any more. OTOH, simply requiring a gesture such as hitting tab to get any intellisense to happen is also fine with me. Have you found anything about this on WWW of others noticing weirdness like this on any particular Linux distro and version? It's also possible that some periodic patch to 20.04 will make this problem go away. Though I generally stiff arm Ubuntu patches for months before I accept them.
