I tried to create the first PyPi release (on test.pypi.org) based on 53.0.0-rc1 this morning and hit a blocker. The "Python Release Build" workflow has been failing for some time, so no wheels were built for 53.0.0-rc1.
I am working on a PR to fix this, but we'd need to cut a new RC to trigger the builds once this is merged. Since we have enough votes already for 53.0.0-rrc1, I suggest that we call this vote and release 53.0.0 and then create a 53.0.1 or 53.1.0 for the PyPi release. On Fri, May 22, 2026 at 5:38 PM L. C.
