Hi Frank, Frank Schnheit - Sun Microsystems, Inc. a crit :
Hi Sophie,
Some of our users have requested to not use the wizard to mail merged datas in letters. I thought the icne in F4 toolbars was the right one,
but no, the wizard was still hide behind it ;)
? Not sure whether I get you here. If we're talking about the "Data to text" and "Data to fields" buttons in the data source browser (F4) toolbar, they should still work as before. At I didn't hear anything different :)
And the next button after those two is ... Mail merge ! in 1.1.x it opens a dialog window where you can choose which records you want to print from 3 different modes (all, selected records, or records from x to y).
the one I talk above :)
So I've found this good old dialog window in the Document tool bar :)
?
Questions :
Is it really the only place where a previous OOo user will find it and get rid of the wizard, or am I missing something ?
Would it be possible to get the new functionnality to have the mail merged in only one file using this old dialog window ?
If, with "the old dialog" window, you mean the mail merge dialog from 1.x: No, this one has been completely replaced by "Tools|Mail merge...". As far as I know (and see my answer to Alex' mail about what this means), all the old functionality, plus more, should be available in the new wizard.
No, the new wizard allow you to select the records to be printed only one by one (may be I'm mistaken, but I don't find how to do it differently). There is a small check box that allow you to exclude the records, but what if you have 5000 records and only need the ten in the middle...
The old dialog window is still their if you go under Tools/customize/toolbar, click on the add button and search in the Document category, you'll find an icon "mailing" that correspond to the old dialog window.
But I'm going to ask on sw list and read the specs.
Thanks for your answer :)
Kind regards Sophie
