Eberhard/all,

Thanks for sharing your views despite a "break" till Monday for Radu or
Bertrand, but hopefully they'll appreciate especially voices of reason by
other PMC members...;-)

I absolutely agree that giving people the choice of several languages or
frameworks is best in a polyglot, heterogenous and most importantly
prolific ecosystem.
I mentioned Eclipse also towards board members and the Chair of Eclipse
Foundation, Mike Milinkovich hit the point well when I asked him a few
years ago, how he thinks 2 nearly identical Eclipse plugins for Apache
Maven would do: "It's like Darwinism and the community will regulate itself
over time". It did, and I recall the less active or popular one eventually
merged into the M2E project;-)

You heard as a side-effect that if not on the board, Microsoft at least has
top committers to Apache and there are options to host and build .NET
components we may not have heard about (or didn't bother asking) before
either. I never suggested we should shut down anything, at most pointed to
a slightly less active state of the .NET Parser/Classifier compared to the
Java equivalent. If both can get a Jenkins instance to show their build
progress and quality, that would send a great sign to the community not
having to dig into code or check everything out themselves to see it works
and how it does;-)

Cheers,
Werner
