> Project: Directory Server
> Type: Improvement

> Priority: Minor
> Fix For: 0.9.2

>
> Apache DS already (0.9.1) provides the vendorName attribute. It would be nice
> if it would also include the vendorVersion attribute.
> Some tools display the information or use it for server detection. It would
> make this task easier for tool vendors. This is definitely not a very
> important feature, but it looks better to the user if the client is able to
> state something different to "Vendor is unknown or impossible to detect"
> (real world example of a popular tool).
> From RFC 3045 ("Storing Vendor Information in the LDAP root DSE")
> vendorVersion
> This attribute contains a string which represents the version of the LDAP
> server implementation.
