Stefan Zoerner updated DIRSERVER-633:
-------------------------------------
Attachment: bryan.ldif
I am able to reproduce the problem with the attached LDIF file (added for
completeness) on Apache DS 1.0 RC3, but not on the current optimization branch
(Revision 427216). Great! This issue caused me a lot of problems. I'll close it
when the code is merged into the 1.0 branch.
> Attribute givenname is changed to gn by the server, if an entry is added

> Affects Versions: 1.0-RC3

> If I import an entry like this (e.g. ldapadd tool):
> dn: cn=Bryan Ferry,dc=example,dc=com
> objectclass: top
> objectclass: person
> objectclass: organizationalPerson
> objectclass: inetOrgPerson
> givenname: Bryan
> sn: Ferry
> cn: Bryan Ferry
> the data is stored to an entry with attribute "gn", not "givenname":
> dn: cn=Bryan Ferry,dc=example,dc=com
> objectclass: person
> objectclass: organizationalPerson
> objectclass: inetOrgPerson
> objectclass: top
> gn: Bryan
> sn: Ferry
> cn: Bryan Ferry
> It can't be found with a search like this
> $ ldapsearch -h localhost -p 10389 -b "dc=example,dc=com" -s sub
> "(givenName=Bryan)".
> It is found via this search, but the attribute is missing in the result.
> $ ldapsearch -h localhost -p 10389 -b "dc=example,dc=com" -s sub
> "(givenname=Bryan)" givenname
> version: 1
> dn: cn=Bryan Ferry,dc=example,dc=com
> Note that it is important whether I use "givenName" or "givenname" -- they
> behave different.
