A little background: I am trying to setup ApacheDS in a VMWare virtual machine on Linux and connect to it inside the vm using LDAP Studio.
I have two questions: 1. Is it an absolute prerequisite to change the uid=admin,ou=system password to connect?? The instructions with 1.0.1 indicate I should do that in the xml config and the directory itself, so it should not be right?
You can keep the password, it's not a problem. However, remember that this "password" is shared by at least a few thousands out there !
2. What is the default port for apacheds 5005? Or os just that for debugging?
