cn is not an attribute of the "top" object class. See RFC 2256, for instance http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2256.html ... 7.1. top ( 2.5.6.0 NAME 'top' ABSTRACT MUST objectClass ) ...I have not completely understood what you have done, but you might have discovered a bug in the schema subsystem.
