I like inkscape for general graphics. .45 added some really nice features.

There's a uml modeling tool called "Green" (Eclipse Plugin) that looks really easy to work with. Has both forward and reverse engineering for diagramming, so it could read code and generate diagrams.

We need a slick diagramming tool for this and perhaps it would be nice to agree
on one and use the same tool for consistency across the site. Might not be
important but it kind of looks better if the same tool is used for many
diagrams. Anybody have some recommendations for the tool to use?

                Key: DIR-220
                URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DIR-220
            Project: Directory
         Issue Type: Task
         Components: sitedocs

The AUG should contain some pages which describes the fundamental architectural
concepts of ApacheDS (like partitions, interceptors, ...). There are already
pages regarding architecture, but they are quite outdated and incomplete.
