Cannot edit password field

I have an entry which is a MD5 encoded password field.
userpassword MD5 hashed password
When I right click and select edit or "edit with" Password Editor or Hex editor
nothing happens, no error message, no popup dialog.
I tried to edit that field with JXplorer, it works fine.
