No. The codec processes Messages, not base elements as DNs, RDNs or AVAs.
I mean, the concept is the same, except that the format is different,
but the codec we have just transcripts the DN as a pure String, not
dealing with internal representation. The serialization chops a Dn in
Rdn, then Rdn are chopped as Ava, ...
