Analyzing the current situation and implementations, it looks like this method isn't really used. Its only real implementation, in AbstractBTreePartition<ID>, throws an LdapAuthenticationNotSupportedException and other implementations, in DefaultPartitionNexus and SchemaPartition, are only following the call to the wrapped partition.
