Pierre-Arnaud Marcelot commented on DIRSTUDIO-863:
--------------------------------------------------

Thanks.

The log clearly indicates that Apache Directory Studio's views can't be opened.
> org.eclipse.ui.PartInitException: Could not create view:
> org.apache.directory.studio.ldapbrowser.ui.views.browser.BrowserView

Although, there's no specific exception explaining why...

There are 47 other exceptions (the same one each time) from another plugin:
> java.lang.NullPointerException
> at
> com.adacore.gnatbench.spark.commands.SPARKMenuContributionItems.secureFill(SPARKMenuContributionItems.java:62)

Given the list of features installed on your Eclipse installation, I think it
might be a conflict issue with other plugins.
Difficult to say at this stage.

Could you confirm Apache Directory Studio installation succeeds on a fresh and
clean installation of Eclipse 3.8 ?
Thanks!

> Installing from 2.x update site gives nothing to run on eclipse 3.8

> Installation possible, but after eclipse 3.8 restart there is no views or
> perspectives associated with 2.0 studio plugins: even preferences page is
> empty.
> Running standalone RCP works fine.
