Emmanuel Lecharny commented on DIRSERVER-1901:
----------------------------------------------
RFC 2251, 6.2 reads : "The client can retrieve the subschema entries referenced
by the subschemaSubentry attribute in
the server's root DSE ***or*** in entries held by the server."
Thus it's absolutely not mandatory to inject the subschemaSubentry attribute in
all entries.
Now, the reason we don't add it to entries is simple : we have only one schema
for the whole directory atm. When we will find time to allow the server to have
more than one subschemaSubentry, hen adding this AT in each entry will be
necessary.
I mutate this issue as a 'New Feature' instead of a bug.

> The operational attribute "subschemaSubentry" defined in RFC 2251, 6.2 should
> be exposed under all entries. ApacheDS does only expose that attribute on the
> root DSE but not under any other node. Some clients rely on that attribute
> being available under all nodes. Please expose that attribute always. Also
> compare with http://www.openldap.org/lists/ietf-ldapbis/200103/msg00018.html.
