Hi, I have spent some time trying to work out why Apache Directory Studio on my Linux system had stopped working.
I feel it would be helpful if the page http://directory.apache.org/studio/download/download-linux.html was updated so the requirements are correct it currently states "Java Runtime Environment 7 or later." when in fact it should read "Java Runtime Environment 7 or 8." My issue was I had upgraded to was 9 and removed older versions as this is considered good security practice, and I am an infrequent user of studio so did not tie these things together. So, I made sure I had the latest version of studio and obviously 9 is later than 7 (checking the requirements), so started to look for permission problems etc. I eventually found the answer when looking at the FAQ to see if I could find the log locations, but under setting the VM I found the line "Studio requires Java 7 or Java 8 (recommended). Java 9 is not yet supported."
