I built a simplistic web tool [1] to allow mentor volunteers to advertise themselves to prospective mentees. It entirely relies on mentors/mentees to do the coordination work. It's currently being used to run a private mentoring program for ASF Members. I'm happy give pointers on how it could be redeployed elsewhere for another committer-focused mentoring program - but it needs someone to actively lead the effort (maintaining site/updating questions; gathering mentors; publicizing to larger community; etc.) In particular, coming up with the set of questions/characteristics that volunteer mentors would list about themselves that would help newcomers decide who they'd like to reach out to is the first step. -- - Shane Director & Member The Apache Software Foundation [1] https://github.com/apache/whimsy/blob/master/www/members/mentors.cgi
