As we update and add stuff to the site, we have no means to tell users

handle this.
I think that is a very good idea. I've been thinking about suggesting some
other changes to the Docs main page, too, but haven't found time to work
out a specific suggestion for presentation. Here are my general ideas.
Whatever we do, I think the page needs to be clearly divided into
information for *users* and info for *helpers* or doc developers. (It is
divided that way already.)
Most of the current page is for users now (as it should be), but adding
something about what's new, eg new how-to's or chapters of the user guides,
would be good.
The part for helpers should be an amendment of what's at the bottom of the
page now, possibly by linking to a contributions page, plus perhaps a short
bit for "news" like highlighting what's been added to the to-do list, or
what is the top priority item needing work right now (such as the Setup
Guide for V2).
I'll try to think of a more specific suggestion. And I'm very interested in
what others think about this.
