Wondering if there has been any discussion/consideration of
association with openclipart library? Seems like a natural association.
Tom, such an association should be a two way street. On the Open Clip
Art Library website OpenOffice.org is listed as an affiliate, but on
the OOo website OCAL is not mentioned at all. Even more, it used to be
mentioned at http://contributing.openoffice.org/art.html but the link
was removed.
We are doing a redesign of the OCAL website and in this process I
proposed for OOo will be removed from the affiliates list, but this
was not yet decided.
Folks,
We do link to openclipart via our third party page. I think we should
rethink this as a result of this email.
Please put forward your ideas on this important subject.
I wasn't aware they wanted to partner. If that is the case, I wouldn't
mind putting a main link on the site. There clipart is opensource,
etc. So why not?
I haven't been paying close attention to this, but I was under
the impression that requests had been made repeatedly to have the
OpenClipart link restored to where it had been on the main OOo
website. As Nicu said in the note quoted above, there had been a
link once but it was removed some time ago. I think that may have
happened around the same time that the link to OOoAuthors was
removed from the main site's Contributing page on Writing.
You used the term "partner" above. What does "partner" mean in
the context? How does a separate site become (or qualify as) a
partner? Just curious.
This thread reminds me that I should make a note on the new main
Docs page that most of the clipart is from OpenClipart. I'll do
that on my next revision.
Cheers, Jean
