Hi all,
I have an idea for something neat that the Docs project could do. I just
downloaded Moodle:
http://download.moodle.org/
Now, click on the download link. In addition to the usual window for
downloading the .tgz file you are sent to a page with two big prominent
links:
* How to Install Moodle
* How to Upgrade Moodle
Isn't that cool?
Now, adapt this for OOo:
* User selects the OS (say Linux)
* User selects download site.
* User is sent to the to the "please donate" page.
* User clicks "Download"
* User is sent to a page titled "How to install OOo on Linux"
http://documentation.openoffice.org/install/linux.html
How do you know which OS he has? Just pick the same one that the user
chose to download.
From the Doc's project POV what it takes is turning the appropriate
parts of the Setup Guide into web pages. The rest is up to the www
project (the redirect pat), and should be easy to do.
What do you think?
Cheers,
Daniel.
