By now, it has possibly occurred to some to wonder who I is. I've actually
been registered to OpenOffice ever since I think version 1.12 was out. I
still use 1.15 in the Office while using 2.0 at home, due to hardware
issues. For whatever the reason, I seemed to have joined QA, while
subscribing to this mailing list. Beats me what the heck happened. Since
then, I've just been kind of watching the occasional e-mail pass by without
having a good idea of how I might further my involvement.
Meanwhile, I accidentally re-stumbled into Wikipedia which had improved over
when I had originally stumbled into it. I had the opportunity of been able
to do a total overhaul of the Desalination article, of which the overall
structure is still recognizable as being my doing. Along the way, my
Wikipedia involvement led to Wikicities,(now known as Wikia), where I am
currently an admin on six wiki's.
Between one site and another, I seem to be using two user names. Coro and
Kirk. Kirk is the user name I use when it is available. However, in the case
of both OpenOffice.org and Wikipedia, somebody has managed to beat me to it.
So I wound up being Coro instead. At Wikia where my involvement is more
semi-official, I use my given name. I also have used it at the OpenOffice
Wiki as well.
Discovering the OpenOffice Wiki this month has proven to be nice in that it
appears to provide an avenue for greater involvement on my part, as I have
managed to develop some amount familiarity with the workings of the
Mediawiki software being used, and can perhaps help out in the wikitech side
of things.
As Scott Carr knows, I have been working on getting the User FAQ's set up.
It can be seen at http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/FAQ:Overview.
Right now, I'm working on the Formula FAQ, and need someone to look at what
I have done so far on it, to ensure that I handling it appropriately, before
I continue with that one.
In the meantime, I've managed to relocate my OpenOffice login and have
presumably "Joined" the Documentation project in the process, and we will
see where things go from here.
