Hi All,

I run a company here in the UK providing training/consulting and support services to small-medium businesses in Open Source software.

A discussion with an IT manager the other day prompted me to start a search for information but I have been unsuccessful :-(

I am trying to find a list of the things which *don't* work if you create them in MS Office products and try to import into ODF and vice-versa.

Does such a thing exist? If yes, where can it be found? If not, I would be happy to try and collate something, but I will obviously need input from the community at large.

An example of one issue this IT chap told me about was if you draw a box in Word/Excel and you are left handed (so you draw it by dragging the handles from top-right to bottom left) when it is imported into OOo the contents of the box are reversed, or transposed. He said the text was displayed "back-to-front"...

Having a list of the problems/issues well documented would help a great help for many organisations to migrate less "painfully" and to be aware of certain boundaries that they can use to ensure document portability.

If this is off-topic for this list, my apologies. Any comments/suggestions greatfully received.

Thanks

Alan Lord
