Dear Jean,
I was surprised to read that time has come for you to move on to
something else. The way you inspired all of us and got us going will not
be easily forgotten and will be remembered for long. Speaking for my
self and for sure also for the other Dutch translators, I cannot but
admit that you encouraged us to come up with a translated product that
could withstand the comparison with the original texts :-) . The Dutch
speaking community of OpenOffice.org users owe you a big thank you and
wish you good luck in all your future undertakings.
Many thanks and good luck
May I hope our paths will cross again.
Kind regards

I got my first copy of OOo (1.0.1) in late August 2002 and joined the
Documentation Project's mailing list on 4 December of that year, while
working on what was to become my first self-published book on the
topic. Yow! How times flies.
Much as I like OOo, it is now time for me to move on to something
else. I get bored doing documentation maintenance (it's too much like
a job, not an enjoyable hobby), and I don't have the necessary
background or knowledge to fill in the conspicuously missing gaps in
the OOoAuthors guides, for example the Base Guide or the missing
chapters of the Calc Guide -- much as I would like to write them.
Therefore, I plan to cease active involvement in the OOo project by
the end of this year, though no doubt I'll lurk around the edges
indefinitely, making a nuisance of myself. ;-)
I have high hopes of seeing the completion of the second edition of
the Draw Guide before I go, and given Martin's excellent translation
work, this looks possible. I would love to see at least a draft of all
the missing Calc Guide chapters, but that may be too much of a dream.
As for the Base Guide... <sigh>
In my role of publisher at Friends of OpenDocument Inc, I plan to
continue publishing the printed copies of OOoAuthors user guides
whenever updates are available.
