I'm Sridhar Machani, Technical Communicator at Siemens PLM Software
(India) Pvt. Ltd in Pune, India. I blog about technical communication at
http://allwritesri.wordpress.com/. I chose to join this project both to
contribute my bit to the great effort at OOo and to learn from the
colloborative effort.
BTW, I'm unable to
access http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation. Feel
free to push a few tasks (or one major task), I should be able to get
around them.
Nice to have you here Sridhar.
There are a lot of little things on the go or that need to be picked up
on in the Doc Project. Almost everything is on the Wiki, so feel free
to start poking around in there, and ask questions here on the mailing
list (are you subscribed to the mailing list now?) when you need
clarification on something.
A few things that are ongoing:
- The Doc Project main page needs some rework
- one idea is here:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Talk:Documentation/testpage2
- You could review the User guides
- The Base documentation is weak, so anyone who has knowledge there
can start looking into cleaning that up
This is just a small sample... lots to do :-) The easiest way to start
is to pick a topic or section you know something about, and look at what
we have available on the Wiki and on the website... review what's there
(fresh eyes for editing really helps).
The Wiki was unavailable for about 12 hours due to a firewall failure
between the Wiki server and the Internet. It was fixed this morning
around 09:30CET.
