I've been talking about our incoming cyclone for several days. Here's the latest: We had no noticeable wind or rain overnight here in Townsville where we live, and we don't expect much if any today (we're far enough north of the cyclone to miss it). We're waiting to hear about our place in Airlie Beach. Eye of cyclone went right through there. Not going to phone anyone until later; we figure they are either busy or finally getting some sleep.

After being five to twenty (F) degrees below normal almost all of the past three months, plus a fair amount of snow, we finally got weather up to thirty degrees above normal (low 70s) for a few days, but the rain and snow might return for another day or two.

As part of Microsoft's WebsiteSpark program <http://www.microsoft.com/web/websitespark/>, I just downloaded Visual Studio 2010 Utimate (muchos GB)--as part of a 3-year subscription, costing $100 upon termination. The installation had a neat manner of downloading and installing local copies of the documentation as part of the final installation window. I made screenshots and attached the three PNGs. Perhaps, after we have a critical mass of our own user manuals, OOo could incorporate something similar in its installer.

There is a library manager, whereby a user can switch between the online help or local, downloaded copies, plus an updater for any or all of the help files. For Visual Studio 2010 RC, there were 55 documents, taking up over 1 GB of hard-drive real estate.

Microsoft also includes the complete Expression Web 3 suite of software, plus Microsoft Server 2008 O/S and other applications as part of its WebsiteSpark program. In addition, there are other such 3-year subscriptions either free or for $100 for students or for businesses, in case anybody might be tempted to use them.

Microsoft, apparently, did not properly update its help CHM file for the upgrade from Expression Web 2 to Web 3. (I suppose the other half dozen applications in the Expression suite would also have numerous errors for version 3. The bottom of each page has a feedback link for entering emailed errata, so I corrected a couple dozen technical errors in that manner in only about 25% of the help file that I read so far...
