To extend the validator, SqlOperator, SqlValidatorNamespace, SqlValidatorScope, SqlValidator can all be sub-classed — are those enough control points? You can usually accomplish extensions without changing sql2rel. If possible, use a planner rule on the output from sql2rel. You’re much less likely to break anything. Julian
