You are right, actually not all drill functions can accept VAR16CHAR as
input. For example SIMILAR TO (LIKE works as hive UDF).
That's why I've implemented an approach suggested by you. Now hive STRING
converts to drill VARCHAR data type. Also I edited two tests testGenericUDF and
testUDF.
