This type of query is certainly supported.  A few things to check to see if
Drill might be encountering a bug:
 1. Does the EXPLAIN plan for <query>  complete ?  If not, you should file
a JIRA and provide some details about the tables.
 2. If 1 completes, you should check how big are the tables and start
adding one join at a time to determine at what point does
the query not return in a reasonable period of time.  Can you identify one
particular join that is causing the problem or is it just the total number
of joins that causes the problem.
 3. If the query seems to be hanging, someone would have to examine the
query profile (from the web UI), and/or jstack and/or drillbit.log
