Given the comments from Vitalii on DRILL-5034 and DRILL-4373, I will revert DRILL-4373 from 1.9 release since the issue requires a detailed discussion.
I will not back out the change from master branch, and assign the issue to be fixed in the next release. I will send out a new release candidate soon.
