Activity Schedule

This is a list of activities for the new MarCons to start building
their strategy and to do list.
First week:

Training on Moodle, study the SMP and the MarCon document.

Start learning about magazines in your region make a list and add the
following content:
Titulo Editorial Direccion jefe editor Columnista

After this is created, go to the largest magazine stores in your area,
and look for technology related magazines and fetch their contact
information. This will start our database of future contacts.

By the end of first week you should have a list of these contacts.

Please take time to participate on the lesson, forum, and subscribe
via RSS or enable post notification so you can keep track of the
conversations.
Second Week:

Please study the Guerilla marketing content and start a series of
discussion on possible tools you can use for your marketing features.
Tell us how you plan to use them and how you think it could be
efficient. Generate some simple written documentation that you can
give to your prospects. Send feedback so we can include some sample
documentation in the future.

By this week you should have been able to fill out and make a small
database of all these magazines. Please collaborate with the other
marcons and ask for an introductory email that you can apply to
introduce yourself for the media. Please keep in mind about the
message and the wording. Don't send them yet but make sure you are
saving a copy.

Bring a list of questions to the marcon mailing list to debate, this
is important to keep your profile well recognized by the members of
the list. Please ask smart questions.

    * Ask about other projects
    * Latest PR annoucements
    * Official position on industry factors like OOXML or Google Docs
    * Ask about the dba project, user experience or odftoolkit
    *

Research on the internet, YouTube and SlideShare are great media for
knowledge on almost any subject. There are also other podcasts and
sources to work with.
Third Week:

Now you should be on the topic about PR and speaking in public. Please
research more than the current content since this might be more than
marketing.

If you already know or went through all the training, make sure that
you keep participating on the Moodle site since these are ongoing
discussions.

Once you have the written information. [Alex: we need to work up a
base plan for this, so they can just apply it and/or improve it.]

Start contacting your list for the media, you are encourage to call
them, set appointments and be prepared to give documentation about
OpenOffice.org.

Feel free to use the material provided on the website. A small
description of OpenOffice.org might be enough, however, if there is an
angle then you can also provide more content like feature list for the
new 3.0, etc. Product announcements are important content to cover so
a columnist might be interested.

Start researching on last year's events and conferences and then get
in touch with the organizers. The organizers contact can be on their
last event information. Make sure that you have a continous relation
with this people so you could be in touch for the next event.

The events can vary between different types, please classify them and
report back:

    * Open source-free software events
    * IT industry events
    * Education and science events
    * Other events like media, new media.
    * Industry chambers of commerce
    * Government events
