Dick,
From INFRA:
Sorry, we do not hand out Windows VMs for testing purposes. We have
Windows VMs that are being used by CI Services such as Hudson and
Buildbot, so you can of course use one of those services and specify
that the Windows VM does a build for you. Otherwise we can create a
Ubuntu VM or a FreeBSD jail for your projects direct usage.
Should we go for an Ubuntu zone?

Joe,
Are there any news about the backlog for creating zones?

Now that stax.net has been purchased by CloudBees, it looks like

@Anne could you push the creation of our zone.

Ok, thanks!
I will create a Jira task (yes, we would run Windows), and no
worries
about the backlog - I have a fair bit of work right now getting
into
django and the new CMS system myself ;-)

Joe,
If you are listening - how do we go about creating a zone? Should
I
open a Jira INFRA task with our wishes?
Pretty much. Btw I didn't mean to suggest that the zone name was
something
you got to pick; it'll be determined by the infra team based on
the platform
(Windows?) you choose.
There's also a bit of a backlog on zone requests as we await
additional hardware
to come in.
Thanks,
Anne

I don't know what a zone is at the moment, but if the
$something is Apache
mandated, then Apache probably has guidelines for what it
should typically
represent/reflect.
Windows, though in general I'm likely the last one on the
planet to adopt
anything even remotely Microsoft-ish. I often like to say that
the biggest
irony of my life of many ironies is that I'm stuck with Windows
as far as
home/personal computers and my day-to-day uses go. Though of
course, we are
talking server here.

Hi,
I have been reading up a bit on creating a Zone for us, so
that we can
have an instance running under the apache.org domain.
Two questions:
1. Do we want linux, windows, FreeBSD or Solaris?
Dick and I both prefer windows. We have to administer it
ourselves..
2. The address would be:
esme.$something.apache.org
What do we want for $something? Cloud?
