What is interesting to me is the opportunity to "fork" it to suit a slightly enhanced set of scenarios. I choose structured (issue-based information systems) conversations such as those entailed in http://compendium.open.ac.uk/ and http://debategraph.org/ , each suited to microblogging, with the addition of an extended details section above and beyond what tweets cover.
