search integration has lot of benefits, but to build the dashboard is a bit
more tedious (though possible). IMHO, if we put the instance status in a DB, we
might be able to scale and build a fairly powerful & informative dashboard in a
reasonable amount of time. Since the underlying scheduler requires a DB server
anyways, adding an additional db schema might not be a such a irritant. We
could also provide derby based DB on the default installation to avoid too many
installation / configuration steps for a new user.
