Alin Dreghiciu commented on FELIX-481:
--------------------------------------
You are right. The repository is 6.5Mb at the moment. And it does not contain
to many bundles. So this gets back to my question about performance on the user
list, when Richard suggest caching.
But if FELIX-485 gets implemented then it will only affect users using obr
without setting the repositories (via api calls or via sys prop). And I guess
this is fine as soon as that's the repository they need.

> By default (if no repository is configured) BundleRepository uses
> http://oscar-osgi.sourceforge.net/obr2/repository.xml as a default
> repository. As Richard mentioned on the mailing list this repository is more
> a "didactic" repository. Having this repo is somehow then useless and adds
> confusion to the unexperimented (e.g. one has a wrong spelled config
> "obr.repository.url". In that case the default is used => expected bundles
> will not be found)
> I suggest the following alternatives:
> 1. No default => fail to initialize with an misconfiguration exception
> 2. use the osgi alliance repository
> 3. use a (to be created) felix obr repository
