Technically, the approach for directives is not correct. I think RFC 112 says
that directives attribute names end with the ":" character.
Personally, I think this is kind of hokey and the RFC should be updated to
treat directives separately, but until then we need to append the ":" to avoid
directives overwriting attributes. I will make the fix.
