Adding the following lines to openURL(final URLConnection conn) in
org.apache.felix.bundlerepository.impl.FileUtil seems to do the trick
(before return conn.getInputStream())
conn.setRequestProperty("accept-encoding", "gzip");
conn.connect();
String encoding = conn.getContentEncoding();
if("gzip".equals(encoding)) {
return new GZIPInputStream(conn.getInputStream());
}
