[~cziegeler] I ran into some websocket troubles when upgrading from jetty 9.x
to jetty 11.x. So I was doing some work to make this work with the jetty 11.x
branch of http.jetty in PR #309 before I noticed similar changes here for the
jetty12 branch.
I'd appreciate a review of my PR. If you agree with the proposed changes, I'd
appreciate a new release to make this work with jetty 11.x
