Hi Community,

This is a call for a discussion to release Apache Fesod (Incubating)
2.1.0-incubating.

Apache Fesod 2.0.2-incubating was released on May 30, 2026. Since then we
have landed quite a few features and bug fixes on main that justify the
next minor release:

Highlights:
- feat: support freeze pane via @FreezePane or a registered WriteHandler
(#916)
- feat: add fluent header API for no-bean mode (#943)
- feat: support column index limit in ReadSheet (#942)
- feat: cache date and number formatters for better performance (#948)
- feat: split StringImageConverter into Pathname and Base64 variants (#934)
- fix: XLS BIFF8 encryption now actually encrypts the file content (#959)
- fix: support java.sql date types in WriteCellData (#912)
- fix: isolate per-reader custom converters to avoid leaking into other
reads (#972)
- security: upgrade assertj-core to 3.27.7 to fix an XXE vulnerability
(#969)

If there are no objections, I would like to volunteer as the Release
Manager for 2.1.0-incubating. I will follow the release guide [1]
end-to-end and coordinate with more experienced RMs and our incubation
mentors throughout the process.

Also, if anyone is aware of fixes on main that should be included in this
release, please reply to this thread or link the PR.

We propose a feature freeze on Monday, August 17, and aim to have the
first release candidate (RC1) ready for the community vote by the end of
August.

Please leave your comments here about this release plan. We will bump the
version in the repository and start the release process after the
discussion.
