Subject: Re: [Mifos-developer] Inputs required for credit bureau integration
phase 2
Dear Ed and Nikhil,
Thanks for this. This is a great. We do need a credit bureau integration in
Myanmar. However, the regulations on credit reporting were just issued on 31st
March of this year and it only contains high-level requirements. No credit
bureau has started their operations yet but we will share the specific
integration options and technologies for data access by credit reporting
agencies once they are known.
Could this be a two-way integration: (1) to submit credit data of borrowers to
the credit bureaus; and (2) to perform credit check for new
applications?Nikhil- As of now it is one way integration but we are going to
make it two way communication in current phase.
Some high-level considerations that we would like to request in designing the
integration include:
1. Ability to pull real-time data from multiple credit bureaus via API (will
they be displayed separately or will they be merged somehow?)Nikhil- As per the
current design, we have mapped loan to credit bureau product with 1-1
relationship. i.e you can map different loans to different credit bureaus but
you cannot map single loan to different credit bureaus. We can discuss this
requirement further.
2. Ability to post requests via HTTPS with 128-bit SSL encryption.Nikhil -The
communication is already on HTTPS but I am not encrypting it.If this is
compliance issue we will secure the communication as well as per required
standard.
3. Ability to retrieve data in XML format.Nikhil -Yes, data is being retrieved
in XML and we are parsing it to fetch fields of interest.
4. Ability to check the credit score in Mifos without storing credit data (no
external credit histories of clients on Mifos)Nikhil-Currently we are not
storing data being fetched, we were thing to cache entire credit report. To be
on safer side we will make this also configurable, so that users can decide
what to store from the report.
5. Ability to configure access to credit bureau integration module to ensure
that only approved users can access credit score.Nikhil- The credit score can
be viewed in viewloanaccount summary along with different tabs, credit check
tab is enabled. So the user who has access to view loan account details, will
also have ability to to view credit score.
Seems like some of this is already in place.
Many thanks and regards,
Nyi

phase 2
Hi Ed,
Sure, I would be updating the page with latest development on the credit bureau
project.
To summarize the current status:
1) The address module which was the prerequisite for the project has been
integrated and merged.
2) The Equifax India's sand box environment has been integrated as a standalone
client in Fineract.
As Credit check is optional module, Once you enable the credit check and if
client has applied for loan, user would be able to do a credit check for that
client. However, it is not configurable as of now, the repository details have
been hard coded.
3) With the aim of making the credit bureau more flexible, Credit bureau
configuration module was created wherein, the user would be able to store all
the required configuration for credit bureau, it has been completed and the PR
has been sent for review.
Tasks scheduled for next two weeks before the coding period begins :
1) The current design is inflexible, so the first target is to come up with the
generic design of the credit bureau module.
2) Connect the stand alone client with the configuration module which will make
the client configurable.
Regards,
Nikhil

Hi Fineracters,
I wanted to bring this email to the top of your inboxes once again as Nikhil is
refining the design for genericizing the credit bureau integration module that
he'll be working on during this summer for Google Summer of Code.
I will reach out directly to some of the partners who have expressed a need for
credit bureau integration but what is most needed are the specifications from
the respective credit bureaus so Nikhil can know the available points of
integration.
Nikhil - could you please update the page on the wiki with the relevant status
and the current links to JIRA tickets -
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/FINERACT/Credit+Bureau+Integration
Nikhil, could you also include the specs on the Equifax India integration so
others can know the level of detail of information they could ideally provide.
Here's a link to the outstanding pull requests related to credit bureau
integration - https://nikpawar89.github.io/
Thanks,
Ed

Hello Devs,
In the phase 1 of credit bureau Integration last summer, Equifax-India was
Integrated with Apache Fineract as a stand alone client. We are now planning to
design a generic framework which would facilitate on boarding of new credit
bureaus in Apache Fineract.Besides creating a generic framework,we are also
planning to integrate another credit bureau which is outside India region.I
would soon come up with a Wiki page on the design of generic framework.
Meanwhile, If you have any inputs/ recommendation/ requirements which you want
us to consider in the design, please let us know about them. Also, if you are
interested to integrate a specific credit bureau which falls under Latin
America, Africa or South East Asian region and you can help us acquire credit
bureau's test environment details, please feel free to reach out to us with
your suggestions.
