Deadlock found when trying to get lock try restarting transaction? BTW If anyone else reading this knows more about those deadlocks (which are mysql level, not Java level deadlocks..) please chime in on FINERACT-856.
Other than that, you could just have some fun running load tests, and doing profiling at both the Java and database levels. The interesting part here is how to create the load test scenario; the ideal case would be for you to get test scripts from end-users of this projects.
