Dear Victor,

Dear Lalit,

I am a first year Autonomous System double degree Master’s student at KTH,
Stockholm. Next year I am going to do my specialisation in “Artificial
Intelligence and Robotics" at Aalto University, Helsinki.

I am interested in applying for the GSOC Challenge. In particular, I am
interested in the “Scorecard for Credit Risk Assessment Phase 3” since it
is the one mostly related with my background but also with my future goals.
Thus I am very motivated to gain a hands-on experience in it.

However, since there is a short deadline from the moment I found about this
opportunity, I am wondering whether it is worth focusing all of my
resources (i.e. time) in meeting your requirements given the competition
(interested candidates). I am asking this due to the fact that although my
background is compatible with the project, my skills can be considered on a
medium level (or not on a very competitive level). Thus, I kindly ask you
to honestly tell me whether you already found some strong candidates
meeting the requirements, so that are very likely to be assigned the
project, or if I should give it a try.

For the sake of completeness, I should mention that I have several years of
experience as a financial analyst and as an advisor for the German
Investment and Development Cooperation in which I was working with DFIs as
well as in the field of Microfinance. Also, in order for you to have an
idea of my python and C++ skills you can have a look on a project, similar
to this one, I did for the course “Introduction to Machine Learning” this
year. The project can be found here: github.com/ThomasWeikert I have a
medium level of expertise in Python, C++, ROS, GAMA. Please find my
linkedin page here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/weikert/.

I remain at your disposal for any additional information.

Kind regards

Thomas Weikert
