You're mistaken. It happened on this list, and I have posted the URL to
that discussion several times already.
If I am not on the list and how can I vote the talks !
By asking. Like others did. Everyone that asked was added to the voter
tool. And everyone that volunteered to be on the content selection
committee, was on that committee.
Silence is the consent but raising objection is needed if seen any time .
There is no limit to that in terms of a time frame as you are pressing here
Again, you are mistaken. A conference is an *event* and so operates on a
timeline, with deadlines that cannot be simply ignored.
If Javier and Rich gets to decide certain rules and get it approved by
silence then we could definitely use lazy consent at any given time to redo
those decision.
And if you read the rest of the conversations around this, you'll see
that I agree with you. All you have to do is show up and volunteer and
do the work.
Watch this list. In a few months (probably around March?) I'll email
again asking for volunteers to do the hard work that Javier has been doing.
As a volunteer , I would like to share that community need to work together
rather than a single benevolent dictator making rules on whims and small
timeframes and making excuses on the fact that what others will say or it’s
disrespectful for other volunteers or speakers if we change !
The small timeframes won't change, because, as I said, this is an event,
and we have to hit deadlines.
In my opinion , this Stone Age practice of deciding things a decade ago
need to be revisited
Saransh, I'm really not sure if you're trying to be offensive, but ...
you're being offensive.
Come be part of the party, or don't. But you don't get to refuse to
volunteer, and then stand on the sidelines telling everyone they're
doing it wrong. You are welcome to volunteer next year, but know that
next year we will *also* be operating on a schedule, with deadlines.
There will be a call for volunteers, and it will have a deadline. We
will have a call for presentations, and it will have a deadline.
If you want to be part of that conversation, I've told you where to come
for that conversation. If you want to change something about how we do
conferences, the cost of entry is showing up and doing the work. Simply
telling us to do things differently doesn't cut it.
And, yes, when something works, we keep doing it. The way that we do
ApacheCon has evolved over the past 21 years, and we keep doing what
works, until someone comes along with better ideas, and a willingness to
do the work.
