... had a couple of real world events that got in my way... here some quick updates:

Mihaly helped clean up the Jira tickets, that was big thing... what's left for me is to pull the trigger on the remaining tickets aka move them to the "attic" (i. e. label them with the imaginary version 3.0).

There is a bit of show stopper bug that we have to fix first before we do the release. And I should be ready soon with the first phase of improving the OAuth support in Fineract (and getting rid of the outdated libraries).

If we can sort out the show stopper bug before or around the next weekend then I'd say we have a chance of finishing (uploaded artifacts and all) the release just before or around the conference.

Aleks - What is the status of the release?  Do we have a candidate on a specific commit?

I know we cannot stop development so I think we need a specific commit and to tag that.

Will the release be ready by Oct 1st?   Is there anything I can do to help?

I am not aware of any PR, but maybe Ibrahim, Francis and Bharath
can shed more light on this?

        Hi Aleks,

There is this issue that has been a blocker for so long, I see
        its indicated fix version 1.9.0:

        https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FINERACT-657

Please confirm if we have a PR for the same and its tested to
be working which will be included in the release.

        Thanks,

        Hi everyone,

... it has been a while since the last release (a year)... so
let's have a new one before we head to Halifax. It's been a
busy year, we definitely have enough new features and
        improvements for a release.

Please help out and let me know if there are any features/open
tickets you need to have in this release or if there is major
experimental work under way that is not finished yet (and
maybe shouldn't be included in this release).

I'll start triaging the tickets in Jira... anything that isn't
being worked on will be moved to a hypothetical version
(probably 3.x or the like, proposed by James) to avoid that
some really long running tickets immediately reappear for the
next release. After a while we should have a look at these old
tickets and decide what to do with them. Doesn't help to drag
them around for years if we don't pick them up (or they are
not relevant anymore). That's something for another day then.

So... please let me know if anything specific needs to be on
our radar for this release. I will start the official release
        process very soon.

Thanks in advance for your help.

        Cheers,

        Aleks
