Devs - Back in 2023 we referenced the ASF policy. That policy is little
changed but I encourage you to read it in full
https://www.apache.org/legal/generative-tooling.html
<https://www.apache.org/legal/generative-tooling.html>

As AI use has expanded in our society, and tooling keeps evolving,

*Emails*. I think naturally we are seeing some use of LLMs in formulating
emails.

I think best practice now (evolving) is to use AI for clarifying your
emails, but not to replace your brain.

*Tickets and write ups*
If you make use of an LLM to write up a bug report in a jira ticket - then
I would say you should share both the Model (which LLM and version) and the
prompt used to generate the text.

*Code & Documentation *
See the policy for the conditions that must be met. As Machine generated
content and code cannot be copyrighted in the same way as a human
contribution, they must be tracked according to the policy
very specifically.

Let's discuss.

Thanks,

Fineract Devs -

I want to bring to your attention the ASF (Apache software foundation)
policy regarding use of AI tools to generate code, which is binding on
Fineract. Please read: https://www.apache.org/legal/generative-tooling.html

1) this is an evolving thing
2) you are responsible for NOT contributing code licensed improperly
3) most common AI tools will have the wrong kinds of licenses and even
transparency about source of code hr software
4) there is a safe way to use AI tools - read the policy

all committers at the ASF. It is a short documents, so I would
like to encourage you all to read it carefully and consider the
implications in your own work on the ASF projects you happen
to be a committer on:
    https://www.apache.org/legal/generative-tooling.html

Should you have any questions, please direct them to me
(or you could email [email protected]).

Thanks,
