Hi everyone, I have been reviewing the project gaps discussed during the October 2025 community meeting. I noted that James highlighted "Test coverage (broadly)" as a top 5 priority. I also saw in the FSIP slides that "FSIP 4: Cucumber testing" is currently marked as "Partially done.. Needs volunteers".
I would love to step up and help drive this forward as my GSoC 2026 project. My goal would be to expand the BDD coverage for the backend components by writing the missing Gherkin feature files and Java step definitions, making the business logic more readable for non-technical stakeholders. Could someone (perhaps the original authors of FSIP 4) share the current state of the partially completed framework? *Also, is there currently an open Jira Epic tracking this effort, or should I create a new one to start mapping out the tasks?* I would love to connect with a mentor to discuss the best starting point.
