I'd like us to try Matrix
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matrix_(protocol)> for Apache Fineract
chats. I've set up a space
<https://matrix.to/#/#apache-fineract-home:matrix.org> with three
channels: general <https://matrix.to/#/#apache-fineract-dev:matrix.org>,
gsoc, and random. If you want to help us try this out, first: Create a
Matrix account or sign in to an existing account
<https://app.element.io/#/welcome>. Next, choose a client. I recommend
the web client <https://app.element.io> if you want to use a browser,
Element X if you want to use a mobile device, or Element Desktop for a
laptop/desktop <https://matrix.org/ecosystem/clients/>. Finally, join
the "general" channel, and also the others if you like.
This is only an experiment. All channels are public and chat histories
are public. This is hosted on matrix.org. You can also use other "home
servers", but I'm not yet sure how that works. These channels are not
bridged to any other chat/federation networks/platforms.
Apart from this experiment for our community, the ASF itself is
currently considering using Matrix
