Hi everyone,

My name is Nehm Hounga, and I’m really excited about the possibility of
applying for Google Summer of Code 2026 with Apache Fineract.

I’ve been reading through the draft project ideas, especially the ones about
transaction idempotency, loan origination, and the self-service API component.
I find them genuinely interesting, particularly because they touch on backend
architecture, financial systems, and real-world reliability challenges.

I just wanted to introduce myself and express my motivation to contribute. I
have a background in backend development and system design, and I’ve worked on
building scalable applications and APIs. I’m comfortable with databases,
authentication, distributed systems, and writing tests and documentation for
production-level code.

I understand that these ideas are still drafts and that the process hasn’t
officially started yet. In the meantime, I’d really appreciate any advice on:

Where I should start exploring in the codebase

How best to prepare technically

Any recommended reading or research (especially around loan origination models
or idempotency design)

I’m ready to dedicate the necessary time (~350 hours) and to actively
participate in mailing list discussions. I’m here to learn, contribute, and
grow within the community.

Thank you for your time, and I’m looking forward to being part of the
discussions.

Best regards,

Nehm Hounga
