Hello Apache Fineract community, My name is Sandro Martínez, and I am a final-semester Computer Science student.
Over the past few years, I have developed a strong interest in Java and Spring Boot. A few days ago, I made my first contribution to an open-source project that uses these technologies: spring-petclinic-rest. <https://github.com/spring-petclinic/spring-petclinic-rest> I only recently learned about Google Summer of Code after coming across a post on LinkedIn. After taking the time to read more about it and understand how it works, I found it to be a fantastic opportunity. I then reviewed several projects that use Java and Spring Boot in their tech stack, and Apache Fineract stood out to me as the one that best aligns with my goals and interests. I also believe it is a project where I can learn a great deal. At the moment, I am especially interested in FINERACT-2439 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FINERACT-2439?jql=project%20%3D%20%22Apache%20Fineract%22%20AND%20labels%20%3D%20gsoc2026%20ORDER%20BY%20createdDate%20> and FINERACT-2169 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FINERACT-2169?jql=project%20%3D%20%22Apache%20Fineract%22%20AND%20labels%20%3D%20gsoc2026%20ORDER%20BY%20createdDate%20>. I am currently setting up the development environment so I can start exploring the codebase and working on my proposal. I consider myself a self-sufficient learner, and problem-solving is one of my strengths. Competing in the ICPC has strengthened my analytical and problem-solving skills, which I believe will be valuable when contributing to the project. My main goal is to learn as much as I can from the mentors and the community, and hopefully become an active contributor to the project in the near future. I am very excited to get started, even if I am a little nervous as well. Best regards, Sandro Martínez
