It's recommended to enable this entity if you want to use accounting module. You could set the start date from the database under table "c_configuration" and provide start date under date value row. Explanation: Consider an organization is moving from different platform to Mifos Platform. All the accruals in the previous platform should not be affected and new accruals should start get generating in new mifos platform. But from what date? That is the 'organization-start-date' set in the database (c_configuration table) so that new accruals start taking effect. The 'organization-start-date' is not given in UI because someone may unknowingly change it which would adversely effect the accruals. 2. office-opening-balances-contra-account Meaning given in above link: Enabling this helps in setting up opening GL balances for a given organisation.
