Gordon, Side note. If you use git bash, which comes as part of the git for windows package (which I am assuming you are on hence the Cygwin) you can actually do all of the things that you needed Cygwin for before in here and have the simple git integration. Just how I have managed things for a couple of years and it works well, Mike
